Global energy leader Shell has joined ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½as a corporate member to enhance collaboration with the sector on decarbonisation and other challenges.
Shell has become a corporate member of ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½to deepen engagement with commercial road transport operators around the world. The primary focus will be on helping the sector decarbonise through a transition to net-zero emissions technology for heavy-duty vehicle fleets.
In addition to engaging with IRU¡¯s Green Compact and other sustainability activities, Shell will also work with ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½and the wider sector on other issues and opportunities facing transport operators, including digitalisation, safety, operational efficiency, as well as attracting and retaining workers.
Shell has already engaged with ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½and its members on an ad hoc basis on bio-LNG and LNG standards and safety training. It has also contributed to ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½events, including on a panel session on fuel prices during the last General Assembly, and as a speaker at the last EU conference on Fit for 55 and alternative fuels infrastructure in Europe.
The focus of Shell¡¯s work with IRU¡¯s network will be via and will be aligned with the company¡¯s Powering Progress strategy which partners with public, private and NGO sector stakeholders on the transition to net zero emissions.
