Why wait for him when I can just join him on the road?
I was born in the Turkish coastal city of Trabzon.
After finishing my education, I joined the banking sector. I worked in banks for 15 years and then became an account manager for our family company.
But in 2017, I was introduced to the world of logistics after meeting my husband.
I spent the first six years of our marriage waiting for my husband, a truck driver, to return home.
Over time, the situation started to become difficult. While looking for a solution, I asked my husband, ¡°why don¡¯t I travel with you?¡±
My husband then approached his employer about the possibility of me joining him on the road. His boss was very supportive about the idea but informed him that I needed to first get my truck driving licence and qualifications.
So after passing the necessary exams and getting my truck licence and professional qualifications, I started working in trucking, at the age of 53!
I am very thankful to my boss, Mehmet Dilmen, the owner of Transbatur Logistics, for his support.
My Husband and I have now been working together for a year. My dear husband¡¯s professional support has been a huge advantage. Of course, our pet son is also always with us.
As a child playing with trucks instead of dolls, I would have never thought that one day I would become a truck driver!
Every profession has its difficulties, but there is nothing that we cannot achieve as a woman if we really want to.
