The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) has released a report of the Iran-Turkey UNECE-ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½eTIR pilot project, endorsing the digitalisation of the TIR system and encouraging further contracting parties to adopt digital transport operations.
Recently published under the , the report highlights the successes of the completed pilot project and encouraged Iran, Turkey ¨C and other countries ¨C to continue piloting digital TIR and to move towards full computerisation of the system.
Focusing on technical and practical aspects, the report follows continuing work by ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½to exchange information and facilitate a wider understanding of the benefits and operational issues relating to the new generation TIR.
A recent seminar held in Batumi, Georgia, devised a possible action plan for a fully electronic TIR procedure on the intermodal Ukraine-Georgia-Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan corridor.
