The industry is also looking to the ITC to provide global coordination and guidance in addressing new challenges, including decarbonisation and digitalisation, primarily through faster introduction of eTIR. Several bilateral meetings with ministers discussed its implementation as well as IRU¡¯s Green Compact.

ITC meetings continue throughout this week. On Friday, ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½Advocacy Director Matthias Maedge will take part in a round table on post-Covid-19 recovery. The event will focus on recommendations from the private sector to overcome international supply chain disruptions.

The long-lasting true public¨Cprivate partnership between UNECE and ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½is perhaps the oldest and most successful public¨Cprivate partnership in the UN system. UNECE acts as the guardian of key road transport conventions, such as the TIR, ADR and CMT Convention, and ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½as the implementing part of those conventions. 

The Inland Transport Committee, established in 1947, is the highest policy-making body of UNECE in the field of transport. The ITC provides an intergovernmental forum where countries come together to forge tools for economic cooperation and adopt international legal instruments on inland transport.
